The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Jesus told us:

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:15-18)

His commands were simple and few: To love God and to love others, as He has loved us and as we love our ourselves, including our enemies (Matthew 22:35-40; John 15:12; Matthew 5:43-48; Mark 12:28-31; Luke 10:25-37).

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:25-27)

Thank you Lord, for wanting to be our best friend and counsellor.

If you don’t already have a personal relationship with Jesus, He wants to be your true BFF too. All you have to do is ask and be prepared to let Him in.

The Bible says that “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). This is an offer open to everyone, no matter how far from God, or lost you may feel, Jesus said He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). If you invite Him and His ways into your heart and life, you truly will have an eternal best friend like no other.
