As the Christmas season is now upon us, let us not forget about those that Jesus came to help, the meek, the lost and those who others did not hold in high esteem. It seems that Jesus was criticised for spreading the word amongst the poor, who were unable to access teachings in religious places. But the Word says that God chose the poor of this world to be rich in faith; and the lowly, that He may be glorified through them.
As Christians, it is important to value and love those from all walks of life, rather than just those with status, wealth or power, as the world so often chooses to admire. Indeed, one of the instructions Jesus gave us in one of his many wonderful parables, was to help the poor and those in need, saying that in helping them, we were helping Him.
In line with this, here is a link to a video by a man of God I know that reaches out to those that some lesser men would rather pass by. Simon Heard’s song really touched me and is a poignant reminder that as believers, we are not to pass by those in need. Instead, we should reach out and help them as Jesus did, particularly at this time of year when so many of us have so much to be thankful for.
I pray that the love of God in your hearts will encourage you all to do what you can to help, when you can and for you to be the lights of the world that we were created to be.
